SCOTTISH REGIMENTS

The Lanarkshire Yeomanry

155th Field Regiment

ROYAL ARTILLERY

THEIR STORY

The Lanarkshire Yeomanry traces its roots to 1819, when troops of yeomanry cavalry were raised across Lanarkshire. The regiment went on to serve in the Boer War, and at Gallipoli, in Palestine and on the Western Front.

In 1940 it became 155th (Lanarkshire Yeomanry) Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, and in August 1941 it reached Malaya. When Singapore fell on 15th February 1942 its gunners were taken prisoner — facing years of brutal captivity.

Their story is one of courage, comradeship and endurance — and it must never be forgotten.
