Remembering Scotland’s Far East Prisoners of War
The Scotland FEPOW Trust is dedicated to preserving the memory, testimony, and history of Scottish soldiers who were captured and held as Far East Prisoners of War during the Second World War.
These men endured unimaginable hardship — forced labour, starvation, disease, and brutality — yet their stories remained largely untold for decades. We are here to change that.
Through education, remembrance, research, and community, we ensure that the sacrifice of Scotland’s FEPOWs is never forgotten — and that future generations understand the true cost of their freedom.

Honour & Commemorate
We honour every FEPOW with lasting commemoration, including memorial plaques in their hometowns across Scotland.

Research & Document
We support and carry out research into the experiences of Scottish FEPOWs, preserving testimonies, photographs, and records for future generations.

Educate
We bring the FEPOW story into schools, universities, and communities — ensuring young people understand this vital chapter of Scottish and world history.

Build Community
We connect families of FEPOWs, historians, veterans’ groups, and supporters — building a community united by remembrance.

Advocate & Raise Awareness
We campaign to ensure the FEPOW story receives the recognition it deserves at a national and international level.

International Partnerships
We collaborate with organisations in Thailand, Myanmar, Singapore, Japan and beyond to foster understanding, reconciliation and shared remembrance.
