🌏 Illuminate the World for VJ Day 80
A Global Tribute. A National Duty. A Family Promise.
On 15 August 2025, the world will mark 80 years since the end of the Second World War in the Pacific — a moment that brought freedom for many, but left generations silenced in its shadow.
To this day, the stories of the Far East Prisoners of War (FEPOWs) — men and women enslaved, starved, tortured and forgotten — remain absent from our national conscience.
This year, we change that.
The Scotland Far East Prisoners of War Trust invites the world to join us in “Illuminate the World for VJ Day 80” — a global act of remembrance.
🔥 Why We're Lighting Up the World
This is not just a tribute — it’s a reckoning.
We light up in:
🟣 Purple – For the Burma Star, a symbol of honour
🔴 Red – For the blood that was shed
⚪ White – For the peace we still fight to preserve
From candlelit vigils to glowing landmarks, this global campaign links families, cities, and countries in one united act of remembrance.
